2007 Rules

General rules

¨        All cars must pass standard sanctioning organization tech & safety inspection, performed by hosting track officials, based on the sanctioning body they belong to.  It is the racer's responsibility to know which sanctioning organization a particular track belongs to.

¨        Any traditional Pontiac powered car is legal. Any Pontiac bodied car is legal.

¨        Power adders permitted if within safety guidelines

¨        All cars with a bye run must stage and leave.  Shutting off early and/or pulling off the track early (if possible) are permitted.

¨        At Mason Dixon, determination of who has the bye is:

¨        1st round determined by best reaction time in the last time run for the class. (if tied, first one according to time of day on ET slip gets the bye).

¨        Other rounds also determined by RT in the previous round.

¨        Driver who had the best RT will pull off to the side or stay at the back of the staging lanes until it is determined if there will be a bye run. If there is an even number of cars for complete pairings, the driver eligible for the bye run will get lane choice.

¨        If a car breaks down in the lanes, the lanes will move forward to make pairs. The driver eligible for the bye run may, or may not, get the bye in this circumstance.

¨        If you are eligible to get the bye and do get it during the round, you are not eligible for another bye the rest of the race.

¨        The bye does not carry to the next round.

¨        At other tracks, bye's will be determined by how the track normally handles it or how the promoter desires (Jim Zeek for the Nationals at Cecil County)

¨        Do not delay pulling into the lanes for the OPDS classes.  If you run multiple classes at the track, and are caught up in running the other class, or late getting to our lanes, we will not ask the track to delay and you run the risk of not being able to compete in our class.  No refunds.

¨        "Duck Hunting" is discouraged.  If you pull up to the staging lanes and do not pull in and move to the end of the line, the OPDS officials may instruct you to pull in.  If you refuse to do so, you may be disqualified for the race.  If race to race situations arise, you may be disqualified for the season.

¨        Any violation of these rules may result in an indefinite suspension from participating in OPDS events.

Outlaw Warrior

Electronics Permitted. NHRA Super Pro rules apply.

Warrior Class

¨        Open competition

¨        Only the driver may control the timing of the launch and must leave off of the bottom bulb.  Specifically,

¨        Delay boxes may not be used in competition and must be disabled if in the car and/or taped over.  While we generally use the honor system, we reserve the right to check anyones delay box at any time to make sure it is not being used.

¨        Transbrake permitted.

¨        2-step permitted.

¨       2nd stage for high side RPM limiting allowed but not to be used for ET limiting down track. The 2nd stage can only be used for over-rev conditions as in equipment failure or driver error, to save the equipment.

¨        4-wheel line locks permitted.

¨        OPDS Officials present at the race will make any decisions on questionable usage.

¨        At 2nd Annual OPDS Nationals in September, an additional class will be run allowing electronics; rules for all classes will be distributed.
